viral voting, if i may call it so, to start experimenting good enough

just some observations / queries i see here

-the user / group of users experimenting needs to build up a good initial popularity (preferably among key users with larger networks) to leverage the experiment for faster and greater reach [even when we speak of targeting a local user base]
It's working in this case since the viral reach shot up with a few key users showing interest owing the trio's popularity and the credibility which works to an advantage in such cases.
On another note i can only imagine a bunch of scobleizers undertaking a similar social experiment.

-why aren't itwote updates coming from @itwote if the underlying rationale is connect and converse

-i am more keen to see the stats at the end of this experiment and since the spread of experiment can be far and wide how is it ensured that users from outside India are not nominated? or how does the 'popularity perception' by users outside India influence the nominations? may be have i missed out on something?

well i have already twoted...good luck with the experiment

Are you suggesting the system might work better if the scobles you mention weren't part of it? Hmm... Interesting idea. In the absence of TV and/or a mass media infrastructure, users is all Twitter has. So spreading the word through some of the more ubiquitous usernames shouldn't be seen as objectionable.

As for the iTwote thing, I agree and we will channel announcements and reminders from that account now.

Thank you Sampad. Do campaign for yourself as well. Lest the corrupt win. :)

while you're right in saying that the value added by a twitterer should not be judged by the number of followers, isn't it intrinsic to your process? the more followers a person has, the more the reach of his tweets is, more his chances of being nominated....winning... hence the number of followers remains a very influential factor? and in one single day (between the nomination finalists announcement and the election) it would be difficult for the voter to 'discover' the 'value' of the nominated folks...
but yes, all the best for the social experiment :)

Wish there was a better way of deciding the intrinsic value of a user. We are trying to be as accurate as possible. In real elections, regardless of a candidate's agenda, people also vote for the personality or the family he/she came from, don't they?

We are not saying this will prove anything. Just that this will help us make a more streamlined process next time.

It would be fun to see who's the popular twitter guru in India.

This would make for an excellent study of the Wisdom of Crowds.

Perhaps not in the raw form it is in now. But in one of its later versions. Thanks!
